Believe in yourself, express yourself, be brave, and never give up!
Today I want to tell you about the fears people come to my workshops with, and the reality they face.
One of the main fears I hear: “I won’t succeed at all because I can’t draw; I don’t know how to paint”.
This fear is inherent in almost all my workshop participants to both people who are new to drawing/painting, and those who have some background in painting. In the end, everyone ends up doing great. All their paintings turn out incredibly beautiful, very individual, with an author’s style that’s unique.
The second main fear I hear: “I’m afraid to move on, because I’m afraid to spoil what I already have”.
I tirelessly repeat: be braver, be bolder, take risks, try! Let go of control, follow your desires and your imagination, try everything you want here and now. I will help you turn any mistakes you think you have into highlights.
And the third fear I hear: “When should to stop? When is my painting complete?” I can assure you that this is a question every artist asks themself, even a professional or a famous one. The answer depends only on you because you are the creator of your masterpiece. Some like to trace a lot of detail, and others prefer incompleteness and understatement. This is why I recommend taking several breaks during the art process, especially between different stages. And in the final stage, when students add final details, it is recommended that they move away from their work more often, look at it from a distance, show it to other participants, and watch their artworks. And don’t rush anywhere – you have plenty of time for everything.
In our three-hour creative process, I support my students and help them conquer with the fears described above.
Believe in yourself, express yourself, be brave, and never give up!
